The Next Generation of Cooling Refrigerants.

An air conditioner or heat pump uses its refrigerant to cool and dehumidify the air before it’s streamed back into your home. This liquid is found within the coils of your cooling system, but one of the most common refrigerants used for a very long time – the R-22 (Freon) is now being phased out in response to environmental concerns. In fact, this phase-out was mandated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency through the Clean Air Act. By 2020, the production of R-22 will end all together.

Introducing R-410A

R-410ARecognized by the EPA, R-410A is a chlorine-free and ozone-friendly refrigerant. R-410A will cool your home without damaging the environment. Even better news, Lennox’s highest efficiency systems are made to use this AC refrigerant, which can help your system operate efficiently. The same Lennox systems are known for durability, quiet operation and better dehumidification, so you’ll stay comfortable.

Additional Considerations

At Franklin's Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. in Oxford, our cooling products can work with R-410A. If your system was installed before 2010, you may want to consider replacing your cooling system now, before R-22 is hard to find. Some manufacturers sell alternate refrigerants such as R-407C, R-438A and R-422, however, they may not work with an R-22 AC or heat pump and could compromise your system’s performance.
