Lower Utility Costs

When you’re using the sun’s energy to power your home, you’re going to experience lower utility costs. You just need a system to capture this energy. That’s where we mention the SunSource® Home Energy System.

How can solar energy reduce utility costs?

Each solar module harvests energy and converts it to electricity that’s used mostly to power your HVAC systems, such as your air conditioner and furnace. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, 48 percent of a typical U.S. home’s energy consumption comes from heating and cooling. Just consider this, even if your solar energy system only produces enough electricity for the AC and furnace, you can still possibly cut your utility bill in half every year.

However, the more modules you install, the more electricity you could generate. Energy that isn’t used for your heating and cooling equipment will be used to power other appliances in your home, such as your refrigerator and washing machine, or lights and any other devices you plug into an outlet. We’re talking TVs, chargers – anything! Now if your solar energy system is producing electricity for these devices, also, you’re substantially decreasing your dependence on the utility company. Actually, you could find yourself paying less and less to the utility company at all. What’s even sweeter is that with net-metering, you can still use power from the grid if you need to, and you’ll be credited for any extra power your system generates that goes back into the utility’s grid.

ENERGY STAR® qualified

The Lennox® SunSource system reached ENERGY STAR qualification for meeting certain U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) guidelines for energy efficiency. You know which have received this title by looking for the blue ENERGY STAR label on the product’s packaging or website. When the solar energy system is used with other ENERGY STAR-qualified products, such as our Lennox Signature® Series air conditioners and gas furnaces , you’ll save even more.
